I teach a variety of courses about the Japanese language. Many of the courses I currently teach revolve around the application of natural language processing techniques such as development and evaluation of intelligent computer-assisted language instruction, discourse/pragmatics processing, and psycholinguistics. Creating and translating digital content in Japanese is a strong focus of mine.
Classes I teach on a regular basis include
- Elementary Japanese I (JAPN 1001)
- Elementary Japanese II (JAPN 1002)
- Intermediate Japanese I (JAPN 2001)
- Intermediate Japanese II (JAPN 2001)
- Designing Websites in Japanese (JAPN 4231)
Online Courses
JAPN 1001 and 1002 are offered as online course over the Summer though the School of Modern Languages, and I teach and develop those courses as well. Students are able to take these classes from anywhere so long as they have a computer with an internet connection, and working audio and microphone devices. The students and the teachers all can interact with each other through the online classroom, and they are able to practice conversing in small and large groups.
